What is Benglish?

Benglish is a blend of Bengali and English, widely used in everyday informal communication among Bengali speakers across West Bengal, Bangladesh, and the diaspora. It involves writing Bengali words and sentences using the Roman (English) alphabet rather than the Bengali script.

Unlike formal Bengali, Benglish does not follow strict spelling rules. It reflects how millions of bilingual Bengalis naturally communicate digitally in text messages, social media, and casual conversations.
