What is Hinglish?

Hinglish is a blend of Hindi and English, widely used in everyday informal communication across India, especially in text messages, social media, and casual conversations. It involves writing Hindi words and sentences using the Roman (English) alphabet rather than Devanagari script.

Unlike formal Hindi, Hinglish does not follow strict grammatical rules. It reflects how millions of bilingual Indians naturally switch between the two languages.
